Great News! Open Enrollment is Underway for the TRTA Group Dental Insurance and Vision Plans

This year, you have the opportunity to join this dental plan with no waiting periods for covered services during open enrollment! Most plans require a twelve month waiting period for certain services so this may be the only opportunity you have to join a plan and have first day access to all covered services. The group dental insurance plan, underwritten by Ameritas Life Insurance Corp., enables you to use any dentist you choose.  However, if you select a network dentist, services are discounted from 20-30%. The only requirement to participate in one or both of these plans is membership with TRTA.  If you are not a member, click here to join.

Without dental insurance, the cost of care can get very expensive. In Texas, common procedures such as root canals, bridges, and crowns can cost more than $900 each! However, with rich benefit levels and first day access to all covered services, this plan can help ease the financial burden of dental expenses.

For questions about dental coverage, or to locate a network dentist in your area, please contact Ameritas at 1.888.239.3336 or click here to visit them online.

The eye care plan, from Vision Service Plan (VSP), gives you access to a vast, nationwide network of ophthalmologists and optometrists.  When visiting a VSP network physician you will receive an eye exam and lenses once every twelve months and frames provided once every twenty-four months after a minimal co-pay.

Without VSP, you can expect to pay an average of $115 for an eye exam, $223 for single vision glasses, and $249 for bifocal glasses. With VSP, your eye exam is fully covered after a $15 co-pay and your prescription glasses are fully covered up to your allowances after a $25 co-pay.  To locate a VSP doctor in your area, call 1.800.877.7195 or click here to visit them online.

To participate in either or both of these plans, print out the application on this site and follow the enrollment instructions that can be found on page 3. Have your application postmarked by July 15, 2008, and your coverage will become effective August 1, 2008Late applications postmarked by July 31, 2008, will have an effective date of September 1, 2008.

Sincerely,
